ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT 2024
STEVE THRUMBLE (TILLINGHAM B.C.)

A Message from your President.

"I must start by saying a huge well done to Sid and Jeanne for a great Presidential year in 2023, they are going to be a very hard act to follow.

I thoroughly enjoyed my year as Senior Deputy President alongside Sid, a very memorable moment was when we both donned Elvis wigs and played the part of the ‘Jordannaires’ one evening on tour. I’m sure that all the tourists had a great time, as Sid and Jeanne were great fun to be around.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the officers of the C&D, along with their partners, for all the hard work they do throughout the whole year.

Alby, as Match Secretary along with Angela, work very hard to organise the friendly games, both indoors and outdoors, throughout the year, ensuring that the Association never fails to turn up to every game. Furthermore, Alby, as Tour Secretary, along with Angela, always organise a fantastic tour for us all, everything running smoothly as always.

Mike Lenard, our League Secretary, even when on tour will be found sitting down in the hotel foyer with his laptop, updating information online so that the league continues to run smoothly.

We all know how long Bill Wright sat as Secretary for the C&D and what a fantastic job he did for us for all those years.  We now say thanks to Brian Hyland for taking on the job, as it entails so much work.

Mavis Gardiner, our Treasurer, as always looking after the Association’s best interests.

Peter Gaywood, our Competition Secretary, along with Marion, do a fantastic job throughout the year, making sure we all get our games played in a timely fashion and ensuring the trophies are gathered in and engraved in good time to be presented again.

Thanks also to the Past Presidents who continue to support the Association, playing in friendly games and coming on tour.  A final thanks to our now Senior Deputy President, Angela Garbutt, who next year will be the Association’s first lady President and I know that you will all support her in her Presidential year.

My wife Alicia (who everyone knows as Lou) and I are looking forward to a great 2024. We hope to see as many of you as possible on the bowls circuit.

This year’s tour is to Eastbourne, a place we have been to many times before but have always had a great time and we are looking forward to making new memories this time around.

I am very much looking forward to seeing you all on the bowls circuit this year and wish you all a happy and successful season."
